Course overview
This 12 week course will cover all things botanical - flowers, fungi, fruit, veg - anything relating to plants or to botany.
We will be trying out some observational exercises, experimentation with materials and colour playfulness; plus, utilise plants from our homes, gardens, florist and grocer.
Personal interpretation of what we find and see will be a key part of the classes.
Helen will share some of the art from her two botanical books - introducing you to the work of the artists’ included there.
‘Inspiration is a feeling of enthusiasm you get from someone or something, which gives you new and creative ideas.’ - Collins Dictionary
We’ll find inspiration in several ways: by looking at the work of other artists; interpret a bunch of ideas, try out different media, develop our own drawing creativity.

Materials Needed
Come along with whatever you have. These classes will be a jumping off point to you own creative projects.
If you want more specific ‘what to bring’ info’, Helen shares an art equipment list before each class. It most often includes basic drawing materials but may be something more unusual eg tempera sticks, gouache, collage or dip pen. Whatever you have.
