Frequently asked questions

How do I register? 

You have to register to post in the chat room.  You can use all the major social media logins, or your email and password.  Please note if you use your email, you have to click the "Next" button to be taken to the screen for your password.

You have to register for the chat room even though you already have an Artist in Residence username and password.  Your chatroom password and username can be the same.  

Can I get notifications of my chats? 

You can get notifications for the Art Flow Studio room only, which will be helpful if you want to know if someone is in Art Flow Studio.  You can also get notifications if someone direct messages you or tags you with an @ sign.

1. Click the Gear icon in the chat room.
2. Click Notifications.
3, Check the Main checkbox and the Direct Messages checkbox.
4. Choose Push Notifications in the dropdown menu.
5. Click Update Notification Settings. It should say "updated successfully".
6. Click Sounds.
7. Click Public if you want a chime notification every time there is a message.

You have to leave the chat window open on your computer for this to work.

Is this mobile friendly? 

Yes, and it works better if you use this link on mobile: https://artistinresidence.minnit.org/Main or the popout feature which is under the hamburger menu (3 bars). You can bookmark it or add it to your home screen (detailed instructions for iPhones below).

How can I get notifications on my iPhone? 

Apple has an additional restriction in place for Push Notifications.

To set up Push Notifications, you must first add the chatroom to your homepage by following these steps for best results:

1.  Log in to this link   https://artistinresidence.minnit.org/Main  on your phone with Safari.  (not the main chat page on the Artist in Residence website.)
2.  Click the ... icon which is in the lower right corner. (three dots)
3.  Push the Share button.
4.  Click the "More" ... button
5.  Click Add to Home Screen.

Your new chat room will be live on your phone and come up as a new icon of the Artist in Residence logo.

Open the newly-created icon to re-launch the chat, then login again.

Next:
1.  Click the Gear icon
2.  Click Notifications
3,  Check the Main checkbox and the Direct Messages checkbox.
4.  Choose Push Notifications in the dropdown menu.
5.  Click Update Notification Settings.  It should say "updated successfully".
6.  Click Sounds.
7.  Click Public if you want a chime notification every time there is a message.
8.  Your phone should ask you if it is ok to send notifications and you have to click "Allow".

This requires you to be on iOS 16 / iPadOS 16, or newer.
